Domenico Berardi is an Italian winger currently playing for Serie A side Sassuolo. At just 22 years old he is beginning to attract a lot of interest from Italian clubs as well as foreign ones, including Chelsea. In 98 Serie A games, he has scored an impressive 40 goals with 25 assists. (via Football Italia)
Regarded as one for the future, a call-up to the national squad and regularly starting could soon be approaching. Football Italia has reported that Conte at Chelsea is very much interested in the winger, but Juventus have an option to buy for €25 million. Roma, Inter Milan, and AC Milan are also interested in Berardi. Last summer he rejected a move to Juventus as he wanted game time. This season has certainly helped put his name on the radar and teaming up with fellow Italian Antonio Conte could take his career that one step further.
Having picked up an injury this year and being sidelined for 4 months, Berardi is back and has scored 7 times in 8 appearances in the 2017 season. The left-footed winger almost plays as another striker for Sassuolo. A tricky player who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. Full of skills and good with both feet he offers a big threat. Drifting from right to left, he is a provider anywhere on the pitch. Taking penalties for the team also shows he has a cool head. Berardi is also very agile for a 6-foot winger. His body movement allows him to beat players for fun, and adding flair to his game gets the crowd on their feet. The Serie A is known for being an aggressive league, and if Berardi has already adapted to this, he could fit into any league around the world.
It is common for a player to shine in an average team, but the interest shown from these giant European clubs just goes to show how highly he is rated. Still yet to reach his peak and with statistics, as shown above, Italy may have just found themselves a little gem.
