The calendar’s already hit March and with the summer transfer window not too far away, we thought we’d have a look at 8 players who could move for big money. We’ve tried to add some variety and spice it up by including names that wouldn’t be the first that spring to mind when you read the title!
Inaki Williams is a 6″1 winger currently plying his trade in La Liga for Athletic Bilbao and with 13 goals last campaign he became a target for big clubs. At the age of just 22 Williams has already been capped by the Spanish national side and shows great promise. Williams has been heavily linked with Liverpool in the past but now it seems that Juventus are favourite to sign the Spaniard who is thought to have a €50m release clause (Daily Express).
Kylian M’Bappe is a man that it’s fair to say has burst on the scene in some fashion. The French forward currently plays for Monaco and is enjoying an incredible start to his footballing career. With 16 goals and 10 assists to his name in just 30 appearances, M’Bappe has shown his potential at just 18 years of age. He made Europe take note after netting against Man City in the Champions League and other big clubs will definitely be ready to swoop this summer.
Andrea Belotti is a huge prospect over in the Serie A, we’ve already covered him in a scout report but the Italian striker has really made his mark this campaign. Currently playing for Torino, Belotti has already been linked with pastures new, Conte in particular seems interested after sending scout to watch him. This summer a lot of clubs might look to the youngster to solve their goalscoring woes.
Slightly well more known than his predecessors in this list, Marco Veratti has been playing at a high level with PSG for a while now but it seems that recently he has really taken his game up a notch. Despite their astonishing capitulation in the second leg of the tie, Veratti was absolutely imperious in midfield during PSG’s 4-0 drubbing of Barca in the first leg. There have been rumours that Messi has recommended his signing to Barcelona and I think Veratti could definitely be on his way to a bigger club sometime soon.
Back to the more unknown quantities and we have RB Leipzig’s Emil Forsberg. Leipzig are enjoying a miraculous season in the Bundesliga and after only just being promoted to the division the only team ahead of them are Bayern Munich at the time of writing. One of the main reasons for this is Swedish starlet Emil Forsberg. Forsberg currently leads the Bundesliga in assists with 10 to his name and he has been a driving force for the German side, also contributing 7 goals at the same time. At 25 years of age and with the best of those likely to be ahead of him, Forsberg may be a man in demand come the summer.
Anthony Modeste has already had a crack at English football, making very little impact in a loan spell at Blackburn Rovers in 2012 but since then he has come on leaps and bounds. Modeste previously played for Hoffenheim where he registered fairly regularly but it was the switch to FC Koln which really catalysed his goalscoring form. Modeste hasn’t been able to stop finding the net this time out and only Lewandowski and Aubameyang have done that more than him in the Bundesliga. A proven goalscorer will be high on many a club’s list this summer and I’m sure lots of those clubs will look to the Frenchman to fulfil that role.
Continuing the Bundesliga theme we have another RB Leipzig player (for now!) in Timo Werner. Werner is another who seems to have had his career ignited by a move. He previously represented Stuttgart but made the switch to Leipzig and since then has been absolutely pivotal in their rise to fame. Since joining, Werner has 14 goals in 22 appearances. At just 20-years-old, Werner has been capped by every German youth side and a full cap will probably soon follow. With the publicity of Leipzig’s rise amongst German football, Werner’s form is unlikely to go unnoticed and lots of clubs will inevitably be keeping an eye on the forward.
Anderlecht’s Youri Tielemans has been in the headlines recently after netting 3 screamers in the space of a week but that’s not why he’s been included in this list. The young Belgian is very talented and has been on a lot of club’s radar’s for a while now. At just 19-years-old, Tielemans already has over 125 appearances for Anderlecht and has even been capped twice by Belgium. For such a young man, Tielemans’ stats are incredible with 17 goals and 10 assists already under his belt this season. Come summer, lots of teams will be looking to prise Belgium’s wondered away from Anderlecht.
